Unicâmbio as a financial company was born in 1992 as a Exchange Agency, in accordance with the regime provided for in Decree-Law 298/92 of 31 December, under the General Regime of Credit Institutions and Financial Companies (RGICSF) went through a transformation process into a Payment Institution under the legal regime provided for in Decree-Law 317/2009 of 30 October, as amended by Decree-Law 242/2012, of 7 November, Legal Regime on access to the activity of Payment Institutions and the provision of Payment Services (RJIPSP).
Regime repealed by Decree-Law No. 91/2018 of 12 November, establishing the new Legal Framework for Payments Services and Electronic Currency.
Unicâmbio is subject to compliance with rules regulating its activity in the financial sector, in particular the regime on the prevention and combating of money laundering and terrorist financing under Law 83/2017 of 18 August and other national and European legal and regulatory provisions.
Unicâmbio has implemented a policies, practices and procedures plan, following high standards of ethics and professionalism, in order to ensure and/or minimize that the institution may be used or subjected, intentionally or accidentally, to practices related to illegal activities and any other nature that may affect their reputational or operational situation.
